Ohm G2

The Ohm G2 used the original Ohm G cabinet with the second generation Walsh 2 driver. The G conventional-looking cabinet had a 10” passive radiator to extend the deepest bass. It came in either the controlled dispersion version of the Walsh 2 (creating Full Room Stereo) or in the 360 degree Omnidirectional version like the original (used for the rear channel in home theater systems).

The surround on the 10” passive radiator requires periodic repair.

Purchase OptionsPriceOrder
Low Repair

If there is very little sound and it is scratchy, buzzy, or it rattles in the low frequency range, then a low repair is necessary. We must receive both speakers from you so that we can match them both to the good one.

$300
High Repair

When the system is very dull sounding but most of the sound is acceptable, it usually indicates that a high repair is necessary. Sometimes this is only noticed when one speaker is compared to another. We must receive both of your drivers so that we can match them both to the good one.

$200
Metal Can

The metal can is the protective cover enclosing the driver. This should not be removed except at the Ohm factory. If repairs are attempted, the final repair cost will be higher to fix whatever additional damage is done. However, a small cosmetic dent in the area opposite the wires will have no affect on the sound.

$60
Grill

The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used; but every ”brown” turned out differently. Now they are all black (except on some current white speakers, we have white as an option).

$135
Rebuild Passive Radiator

The passive radiator looks like a large woofer from the outside. It produces the deepest octave of sound and has no magnet or motor assembly. The air inside the cabinet acts like a spring with the woofer driving one end and the passive radiator (PR) at the other. At the low frequency where the spring and the PR resonate, extra energy comes out of the system. Typically, the foam edge deteriorates within 20 years. We now use a new foam edge that is projected to last up to 30 years.

$145 2
Upgrade to G2000 / pair

This upgrade can deliver the performance of the Walsh 2000 Tall by replacing the driver and passive radiator. Installation requires a screwdriver and takes only 10 minutes

All necessary parts can be installed with a screwdriver and takes only 10 minutes. The upgrade comes with a 3 Year Limited Parts & Labor Warranty.

Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.

  • Ohm allows up to $1095 for the return of a complete undamaged pair of Ohm G2s toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
